The BLS building is gorgeous. It comes with a bear statue/idol, grassy fields, basketball hoop and a river. I’m pretty sure it’s got good feng shui. But I have one gripe about this building.
The classrooms on the first floor smell weird (120, 122 in particular). Have you ever been in an elementary school and noticed the distinct, slightly offensive but tolerable stank? Yeah, that happens here sometimes.
It’s a mix of coffee breath, fabric softener, nervous sweat, burritos and feet. Some parts of the first floor rooms also have the faint hint of vomit. This is not hyperbole, it really smells weird, especially in the mornings.
I used to think that it was just me that smelled so funky, and maybe it is, but after doing a brief survey with my classmates who sit far from me I found that it’s true, these rooms smell weird.
But it’s not just the classrooms. It’s the first floor locker room too. It smells like animal urine. The source of this smell is easy to trace – it’s common practice for people to bring their dogs into the building.
Fortunately this is an easily solvable problem. SBA should purchase air fresheners, one scent for each class. Torts should smell like new car smell or a bank. Property should smell like freshly mowed grass. CrimLaw ought to smell like… I don’t really know. I don’t think anything pleasant is associated with CrimLaw , only death, rapes and abject human misery. I think of some sort of lunchmeat when I’m in CrimLaw, I don’t know why. Contracts and sandalwood just go together and I have nothing to back that up with.
Perhaps it really is just me that smells weird since all of the above scent ingredients do play a part of my daily life. If that’s the case, my sincere apologies to all those adjacent to me, I’ll try to improve the situation.
